Genshin Impact’s world, better known as Teyvat, is filled with numerous mysterious locations waiting to be explored. Developer HoYoverse has an interesting pattern of expanding the game’s playable terrain with every other update.

The most recent permanent map extension happened during Update 2.6 in which the popular mines of Chasm were introduced to the game. A new Genshin Impact leak seems to reveal additional information about one of the game’s most popular locations.

One of the Genshin Impact’s most mysterious locations is certainly the floating island known as Celestia. It can be seen in the sky above Teyvat, and it is rumored to be the residence of the gods. Genshin Impact stories claim that mortals who prove themselves worthy can actually ascend to Celestia and become a god. While Celestia’s location is still unknown the current map arrangement shows that it’s placed west of Stormterror’s Liars and northwest of Qingyun Peak. A recent leak on the popular Genshin Impact Leaks subreddit has apparently revealed an early model for this floating island.

Multiple replies in the comment section claim that fans should not have their hopes up since HoYoverse is probably replacing the current 2D model with a new one. At the moment, the floating island is represented by a single transparent image tilted slightly downwards. This is why Celestia appears almost horizontal when looking from Stormterror’s Liars. Making a 3D model of Celestia certainly makes sense since it will make the island more realistic when looking from different angles.

This is especially important as recent leaks have confirmed that the new Sumeru region is placed south of Liyue meaning that players will be able to see the south part of the floating island. The new Sumeru region will apparently be divided into two main parts: rainforests and deserts. The recent trailer video has only revealed the rainforest part of the region which means that players will most likely have the option to unlock Sumeru’s deserts in later updates.

While there is always a lot of hype whenever Celestia is mentioned in a leak, players expect the floating island to appear at the end of their Genshin Impact journey. In the past, humans were able to communicate with the floating island through special messengers. A popular civilization named Sal Vindagnyr was destroyed by Celestia by dropping the Skyfrost Nail which can be found in the popular Dragonspine region. Another similar nail can be found in the recently revealed mines of Chasm.

Genshin Impact is available for mobile, PC, PS4, and PS5, with a Nintendo Switch version also in development.
